President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari yesterday called for special prayers from Nigerians as the Super Eagles prepare for the 2014 World Cup.

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, Maigari said Nigerians have continued to enjoy unflinching support from Nigerians but this time, the Super Eagles need special prayers, if they are to do well in Brazil.

He said the football federation is doing its best to ensure that the team performs but Nigerians must not relent in their support for the African champions.

Maigari said Eagles success in Brazil is a collective responsibility so every Nigerian should be ready to render help in any way possible.

“Nigerians have been praying for us. They have been very supportive but this is a very special time. So they should not relent in their support.

“They should continue to support the Super Eagles who will be in Brazil to do the country and Africa proud. I urge everyone to continue to offer special prayers for the team. What we need now is serious prayers.

“Nobody should spare anything that will help in lifting the Eagles to glory in Brazil”, he said.
