Nigeria may face cash crunch at World-Cup
Nigeria could well face a cash crunch during the World Cup because the over one billion Naira needed for the tournament is being released in batches by the government.
The country's minister of sports Tammy Danagogo announced, "We have released a good sum to get them to a reasonable level of the World Cup.
"Government has made releases to cover their camping, all the friendlies, the group stage and once they cross the group stage more funds would be released to the team."
He further explained: "You know in government, monies are released in batches. The most important thing for government is for the players to excel and do Africa and Nigeria proud."
The Nigerian government is bankrolling the country’s participation at their fifth World Cup.
The Eagles are drawn against Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran in the first round of Brazil 2014.
