Uche, Ideye missing, Yobo, Osaze return for World Cup

Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi kept to his decision to leave Ikechuwkwu Uche out of his World Cup squad as the Villarreal of Spain man was conspicuously missing when the Nigeria Football Federation yesterday released the provisional list of players for the 2014 World Cup.

Emmanuel Emenike’s strike partner at the 2013 AFCON in South Africa, Brown Ideye was also conspicuously missing on the list. 

However, Stoke City of England’s Osaze Odemwingie returned after mending broken ties with Keshi as he was listed among the nine strikers.

Super Eagles substantive captain Joseph Yobo would lead the fight for shirts in the defence of the World Cup bound team just as only five home based players made the 30 man list.

Keshi while announcing the list of the invited players said the final 23 man list will be made known on June 2, after friendly games and camping in the USA.

The 30 players invited include four goalkeepers namely Vincent
Enyeama, Austine Ejide,Chigozie Agbim and Daniel Akpeyi.

The defenders are Kenneth Omeruo, Efe Ambrose, Juwon Oshanwanyi, Azubuike Egbuike, Joseph Yobo, Godfrey Oboabona, Elderson Echeijele and Kunle Odunlami.

Obi, Babatunde Michael, Onazi Ogenyi, Ramon Azeez, Rueben Gabriel, Nosa Igbiebor, Ejike Uzoenyi and Sunday Mba.

The strikers are Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa, Emmanuel Emenike Emmanuel, Osaze Odemwingie, Uche Nwafor, Nnamdi Oduamadu, Michael Uchebo, Obina Nsofor and Shola Ameobi.
