Ramsey’s late strike wins FA Cup for Arsenal

Aaron Ramsey netted a late, late winner, as Arsenal ended nine years without silverware with the 2013/2014 FA Cup.

The Gunners were hot favourites to clinch the trophy at Wembley, but within 10 minutes, they were two goals down.

Chester was left unmarked in the area and when Tom Huddlestone hit a corner kick back into the area, the defender guided the ball past a helpless Lukasz Fabianski. His central defence partner made it 2-0, with an angled drive, after the ball came back off the post. The Tigers were in dreamland.

However, before half time, Santi Cazorla lifted a majestic free-kick past McGregor, to pull Arsenal right back into it. The goal lifted their energy levels, but they were only able to equalise in the 71st minute, when Laurent Koscielny poked in a loose ball from six yards.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. In the 107th minute of the match, Yaya Sanogo stormed into the area and found Olivier Giroud, whose neat back heel was expertly tucked away by Ramsey.
